Trash Dump - Black & White

Had the extreme pleasure of visiting one of our finest South County establishments. A bird lover's paradise. A treasure hunter's dream. A place where connoisseurs of all things trash gather to gawk.... or rid our lives of that wretched thing!
Used the channel mixer (Cs2) with the monochrome feature to convert to b&w. Never feel like I've got it right. Would be a fine lesson for a click meeting.

  1. For not getting it right it really grabbed me at first glance. It has a hint of infared because of the sky/cloud contrast. Is it good enough resolution to print you think? I think it's wall-worthy!

  2. thanks, rod! It would be interesting to see in a larger format. It's so busy with all that trash.

  4. Dave, this pic grabbed me! In fact, I had already switched webpages and actually clicked the "back" button to see it again. I love the swirly sky! You nailed it. - Mrs. Tertany

  6. i dig the b/w version dave. almost looks like the trash is taking flight. i've had a tough time nailing b/w conversions using the channel mixer as well. have you tried throwing a curves adj layer underneath the channel mixer layer to adjust contrast? i found that to give a little extra control to the b/w toning.
