The Mark of Progress

For the sake of altering story (or adding to) I've posted this photo. The same Electric "pole" with a different perspective. I cropped so that the pole is dominating in the right top corner, atop the hill, and the poles atop the hill on the opposing side. I wanted to give the perspective that electricity is what allows the community (or industry), in the valley below, the opportunity to exist and thrive. What do you think of these two photos and their story lines? I'm finding my interest quite often in story so would greatly appreciate your tendency to comment in that direction. Thanks, compadres!

Converted to Black and White with CS2 Channel Mixer. Soft Light texture.

  1. Nice even gradient in the sky. Good mixing & contrast too.

  2. Ya Dave,
I love the negative space. And sharp photos are cool too...

  3. I really like this one. The natural gardient from black at the top to grey towards to bottom is neat. I like the curves of the hill and the pole too sticking out of the grass. This one is fun to look at for a while

  4. thanks, guys :) I was thinking, since this is a San Clemente shot, it may be appropriately called, "Open Space." I think I like this one a lot because it causes me to wonder at what is beyond those vacant hills. Electricity leads to community and modernization was the thought behind taking this photo.
Is it weird that I'm posting on my own post? ;) Since it was late when I put it up I thought I'd put my thoughts on now.

  7. Hugh, photos were taken from la Pata. Up the hill, past the traffic signs building (the west is to the left).

  8. I thionk this one is a whole different story. Like "subdue the earth". THe first one I think is more curious maybe asking a question, this one says a statement.
LIke them both, I wouldn't mind going up there myself too!
