My cousin, Peter Cross was tragically taken to be with the Lord on Friday June 26th at the age of 20. He was on patrol in Afghanistan when he swerved to miss some children, causing his humvee to flip over, killing him immediately. What an honor it was to be part of the memorial where they celebrated his life and deep love for Jesus even to his last moments.
As I looked around at the family members gathered before the service I realized I was the only person with a camera. I felt a profound obligation to record what happened, as we must have the chance look back and remember how he laid down his life that others might live. He was deeply loved.

ReplyDeleteTouching....for real
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to write a comment ever since seeing this post. It struck me how you recognized your obligation to record the honoring of your cousin. Truly a noble gesture and a great sign of respect that I know family will treasure for a long time. Beautifully captured. What a significant role we play in life (as photographers).
