Some of you may have heard that Midget SMith Died of cancer a couple weeks ago. He was super instrumental in surfing. I went down to shoot a few shots for surfline... i decided to play a little bit with some of them. What do ya think?

color isolation

So as I processed this photo I found myself thinking, "Is this technique outdated?" What do you think? Maybe if used correctly, and in moderation, most popular processing ideas can still maintain the pride and integrity of whoever chooses to bring it back for another view. I think it might be dangerous to over-use a look or technique especially if it doesn't add to the story of  a photo. If it is a compliment the technique may seem to disappear as you peer deeper...

Canon 24mm f/3.5 TS

So I assisted Matty this passed weekend and as if the awesome Franciscan Gardens venue wasn't enough to keep me creatively motivated, Matt had picked up the Canon 24mm TS for the event. I had maybe TOO good a time with it. (My apologies to Matt if all you have is blurry 2nd shooter images:) anyway, there are a couple more TSed images on my blog but here's what might be my favorite from the day. Simple, and not an entirely appropriate use of the TS, but it strikes my fancy none the less, for some reason.

Canon testing 3 new cameras?
I just received an email about Canon testing 3 new cameras. Two of them will be full frame.

The email talks about new low voltage CMOS sensors in the cameras. The sensors producing the lowest noise currently of any dSLR.

The 3rd sensor is for the 1D line, a 10mp sensor with extremely low noise at 3200-6400 ISO. There was no info as to whether this was APS-H or fullframe.

Bustin' In

This is Kristen busting into David's Click account to see if you all had a taste of this yet:

http://www.gettotallyrad.com/#rockin-actions-for-adobe-photoshop-7a1d9

Go to the SAMPLES page, click on TOTALLY RAD ACTIONS and play around. Ok, and I'm busting out now. Have fun!

I'm a closet photographer without a camera.

All in the family.

My sister and brother-in-law, Carrie and Jamie, were visiting last week and I took a few shots of them and my two nephews, Tyler and Colin. I couldn't sleep tonight so I worked on these two of Tyler.

The Wedding Singer

Ok, so I just finished editing through a wedding from a couple weeks ago and had to post this one. Despite the strangely mottled background and not nailing the exposure while shooting JPEG, this has to be one of my favorite wedding photos i've ever snapped. The little back story is that the brides grandmother decided she wanted to say something too after all the regularly scheduled speeches, so she snags the mic and recites a love song... super cute right? yeah, but then she follows it up by singing the melody a cappella. The whole place lost it and this was the moment just after she wrapped it up. Hope you guys dig it.

Portraits

Guys,
Here are some texture affects I just got from Parker J. I paid to much money for them but they definitely add artsyness to the image. Can't wait for tonight...

Original

Added Texture (cracks and scratches)

Added Border (more scratches)
