Thanks Dave-O for the help on the first day by the way. Here are a few that I liked from the second day. These have been cropped, rotated and poked a little in Lightroom (unlike Day 1). Thanks Miah for the kind critique.

I lost quite a bit of sharpness on my blog upload. Made larger files and had to swith to "s1600" I don't even know what that means. Tried to "save for web" but lost. Any pointers on bringing the sharpness back? Maybe higher quality jpeg compression? I'm currently at Quality 9.

Discussion - Insurance

Do any of you have your photography equipment insured? I understand that if your equipment generates income than you need commercial insurance vs. home or renter's insurance which covers the hobbyist. I definitely couldn't afford to replace mine if it was damaged or stolen :P so any advice and direction pointing to who and how much would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Critique - Product Photography

I'm totally stoked on how this turned out! I've never shot product before and would appreciate any further recommendations.
Used a single, white reflector as the base. Sat product on white vitamin bottle. Single, on-camera flash bounced off ceiling to reflector.
Canon 5D :: 24-70 macro @ 70mm :: 1/60 :: f/11 :: ISO 400
Speedlite 580EXII :: f/32 :: 105mm :: ISO 200

Question: Does a greater depth of field (ie. f/11 as with this photo) have any effect while shooting macro?

Please share your techniques.

Pool Party

No, it's not wild rivers...it's the Loza's empty pool. A perfect location for an family-only intimate wedding. Hot lights, the 85mm 1.2 and the 45mm TS-E definitely showed up for this one.

sneak peak from central america

after rod's gentle prodding, i decided to post a shot from the trip to guatemala. i leave tomorrow evening for the states and can't wait to dive into some of these images. i recieved some fresh tips via Hugh via our friend Mustafah on how to shoot street photography, which is a whole new world of shooting for me.

Dust the Comedian

It's a good idea to check the LCD after a few shots to make sure a huge chunk of nonsense didn't somehow hijack it's way onto your sensor like in this image. But, every so often dust has some good ideas, like giving the groom a more 50's look...

Canon+Prime

I'm so stoked. It's official. My Nikon is now the play camera and I've switched all my bumper stickers to Canon. I used to carelessly throw around terms like EOS and EF but now I embrace them. Wide open primes only selectively focused on my dreams...but now! I've got a little bit of learning to do because it is all quite real.
